The devastation in Maui is a reminder of how fleeting this life is. One day it was paradise, a dream for those who seek the earthly. The next day, it's all gone. Life investments, beautiful homes and cars, but most tragically life. The death toll is still climbing and it is horrifying. Lets keep the families in prayers.
These things are happening all around the globe and at an accelerated pace. While we hurt and grieve seeing all of it, there's always the sense of such being distant from them… it feels like it is out there somewhere. But, we know better, the way this world is messed up, anything can happen anywhere at anytime. This should not bring fear inside of us, but like the five wise virgins, we need to learn to wait while ready.
Imagine you are going on a trip tomorrow morning and you are all prepared the day before, I mean, bags packed, itinerary checked, confirmed mode of transport etc. All 'Ts' crossed ad 'Is' dotted, You can relax. You will sleep peacefully, even enjoy breakfast if you were to have any. Casually but confidently make travel to your destination. Why, because you prepared.
The opposite is true when you are unprepared. You panic, most likely to forget something important, run late even worse miss your flight. You get my point.
Part of the reason we consecrate ourselves is that we are ready ad present. Present with our Lord now and ready ready for Hime whether He comes for us or we go to Him. Ready with excitement and anticipation for the thrilling experience that awaits us at our destiny. Your song won't be "I am afraid" but "I can only imagine..."
